Leeds United new boy Lukas Nmecha did receive an offer from German side Wolfsburg to extend his contract at the club, but it reflected his injury issues.
The Yorkshire giants have secured the signature of the 26-year-old and he has penned just a two-year deal at Elland Road.
Nmecha had been on the books at Bundesliga club Wolfsburg, but is not new to English football, having started his career at Manchester City.
The 26-year-old had two injury enforced absences in the recent season, suffering through problems with his hamstring and his adductor.
In the season before, Nmecha missed the majority of the campaign with another hamstring injury and a knee injury, while the campaign before that saw issues with his knee again and his tendon.
While Wolfsburg did want to keep the forward and did offer him a new contract, it was a heavily performance based deal, taking into account his injuries, according to German magazine Kicker.
He snubbed the offer though and is heading to England with Leeds, who he will officially join when his contract at Wolfsburg runs out at the end of this month.
Leeds boss Daniel Farke will be hoping that Nmecha can stay fit next season as he will be taking up a vital squad spot.
It emerged earlier this year that Farke was looking heavily in the German market due to his belief that there were bargains to be had.
Time will tell whether Nmecha, signed on a free transfer, proves to be a shrewd piece of business for Leeds.
Nmecha was capped by England at youth international level all the way through to the Under-21s but, born in Germany, he decided he wanted to represent Germany at senior international level.
The attacker has been capped seven times, but not since 2022.
