Mexico’s federation has opted to review Gianni Infantino’s proposal to open World Cup infrastructure to investment funds, despite a collective Concacaf rejection. The federation said in a statement on Friday that it would study the plan before making a decision.

It added that it will carry out a process of study and analysis to choose the most appropriate course for the development of Mexican football.

Earlier, the 41 Concacaf member federations, 35 of them recognised by FIFA, rejected Infantino’s plan.

Canada and the United States, two of the three hosts of the last World Cup, supported that stance.

For now, the Mexican federation’s commissioner, Mikel Arriola, has not spoken publicly on the issue.
