Conmebol backs Gianni Infantino if he runs in 2027 FIFA presidential election | OneFootball

Conmebol became the first confederation on Thursday to back Gianni Infantino, if he chooses to seek a fourth term at the 2027 FIFA presidential election.

The South American confederation said in a statement that its council had unanimously expressed support for the 56-year-old, contingent on any candidacy covering 2027 to 2031.

It thanked him for his sustained commitment to developing South American football and for his leadership at global level.

It also praised his closeness to the region and his vision to continue growing the sport worldwide.

Infantino has not yet confirmed whether he will stand.
