Negotiations between Corinthians and Botafogo for Arthur Cabral have stalled over finances and are not expected to progress before Friday, when the Brazilian transfer window closes.
According to Globo.com, recent meetings failed to produce agreement on how to pay the 27-year-old forward's wages.
Botafogo proposed a loan through to the end of 2026 with an option to buy, while asking Corinthians to cover the player's salary. Corinthians would not commit to more than 50% of his pay.
With ongoing financial problems, Corinthians' board view taking on his full salary as unviable, so talks have ground to a halt.
Cabral joined Botafogo in June 2025 as one of the signings for the Club World Cup window in the United States. Injuries and uneven form have limited his impact.
He has made 40 appearances, scoring six goals and providing four assists. His contract runs until the end of 2028.
Botafogo signed him from Benfica in a deal worth 15 million euros, about R$95 million, split between a fixed fee and performance bonuses.
