Corinthians have appointed Marlon Muniz as their new fitness coach, formerly of Vasco da Gama. He took part in Monday morning's fifth interseason session during the World Cup break.
The club said in a statement that he will bolster the Health and Performance department and lead strength work in the CT Dr. Joaquim Grava gym.
Muniz worked at Vasco from 2022 and was part of Fernando Diniz's staff last season. He holds qualifications in physical preparation and functional training, plus EXOS and FMS certifications.
He also coordinates football at Next Academy, which prepares young athletes for US university scholarships.
Muniz replaces Guilherme da Costa, who left last week for Internacional after joining in June 2024. Football executive Marcelo Paz said the decision was the fitness coach's and that he will take a new role at Internacional.
His arrival comes as Corinthians build fitness during the pause, shaping up for the Campeonato Brasileiro and the knockout stages of the Copa do Brasil and the Libertadores.
Peru midfielder André Carrillo reported back on Monday after extra leave following June international duty in the United States. The team return on 23 July at 19:30 against Remo at Neo Química Arena in the 18th round of the Brasileirão, after a friendly with FC Cascavel on 12 July at 16:00 at Estádio Olímpico Regional in Paraná.
