Corinthians’ Deliberative Council votes on Monday on possible expulsion of former president Augusto Melo from the membership after an Ethics and Discipline inquiry into the 31 May 2025 bid to reinstall him at Parque São Jorge.
According to Meu Timao, councillors will decide sanctions too, with Monday cases for Maria Angela de Sousa Ocampos, Mario Mello Junior, Paulo Juricic and Ronaldo Fernandez Tomé, and another session on eight June for others.
The case stems from a move led by Maria Angela to annul the vote that impeached Augusto in August 2025. She declared herself council chair after entering the chamber, a step that, if recognised, would have restored Augusto over interim Osmar Stabile.
The Ethics Commission has recommended expulsion for a serious statutory breach, rejecting Augusto’s defence and saying he was the main beneficiary. He told the hearings he had no prior knowledge, saying supporters cited a document that could return him as legitimate president. Stabile, then interim, called the episode a threat to democratic rule of law.
The meeting, chaired by acting council president Leonardo Pantaleão, starts at the Teatro do Parque São Jorge with calls at 18:00 and 19:00, then minutes, the opinion and the defence’s argument. If Mario Mello or Ronaldo Tomé are suspended or removed from the Ethics body, alternates Claudia Carlos Oliveira and Richard de Paula Oliveira would take their seats.
Should a majority back the opinion, Augusto will be expelled from the association, lose access to the social club and be permanently removed from the institution.
