Corinthians forward Vitinho, 32, has suffered a meniscus injury to his left knee in training and will undergo surgery on Wednesday 29.

He had scans on Saturday 25 and saw knee specialist Dr Moisés Cohen on Monday 27, who recommended the procedure. The club said in a statement that Cohen will operate, with head of medical Dr Ricardo Galotti present.

Vitinho had been sidelined since 30 April after the 2-0 win over Peñarol in the Libertadores at Neo Química Arena. In the days after, he sustained a right hip obturator strain and a hamstring tendon injury in training.

He began transition work on 15 July, taking on reduced-load ball drills before a return to full training. During one of those sessions he suffered the setback to his left knee.

Recovery for this type of issue typically ranges from three to six months, depending on severity and post-surgery progress.

Left-back Hugo Farias sustained the same injury in February and started transition work alongside Vitinho on 15 July, though he has not yet been cleared.

The No 11 also damaged the medial meniscus in his right knee in October 2025 during a 3-0 win over Mirassol in the Brasileiro, requiring arthroscopy and around six weeks out. Signed in August 2025 after Al-Ettifaq, he has 32 appearances, with 17 wins, six draws, nine defeats, one goal and four assists, and is contracted until December 2026.
