Corinthians full-back undergoes surgery, thanks fans for their support

On the morning of Wednesday (11), left-back Hugo Farias underwent surgery to treat a lateral meniscus injury in his right knee and thanked the Fiel Torcida for their support through his social media. The injury happened during the match against Capivariano in the sixth round of the 2026 Paulistão, when, still in the first half, Hugo’s leg got stuck in the ground during a challenge with full-back Maike.

The player had been the only available substitute for Matheus Bidu, playing an important role in the squad rotation at the start of the season. Now Corinthians awaits the return of Argentine left-back Fabrizio Angileri, who renewed his contract with Timão after long negotiations that began at the end of the 2025 season under the supervision of Fabinho Soldado.

Hugo Farias joined Corinthians at the beginning of 2024, having been signed on a free transfer by Duilio Monteiro Alves in December 2023. Since then, he has played in 75 matches, starting 62 of them, with six assists and no goals yet in the black-and-white shirt, as well as winning three titles: Paulistão 2025, Copa do Brasil 2025, and Supercopa do Brasil 2026.

In addition to Hugo, the Corinthians medical department is also treating midfielder José Martínez, who has a serious ligament injury in his left knee, and forward Kaio César, who is recovering from a right hamstring injury.
