Memphis Depay is close to extending his stay at Corinthians, with talks nearing a conclusion as his current deal expires on Friday, 31 July.
According to Meu Timao, club and player have agreed terms on a two-season extension running to July 2028, which includes a significant salary reduction. The forward’s 25-day post-World Cup break ended on Saturday after representing the Netherlands at the World Cup in June and July.
Senior dressing-room figures commented after the 1-1 draw with Bahia in the Campeonato Brasileiro on Sunday. Midfielder Raniele said he was pleased at the prospect of Memphis staying, noting both sides had made efforts and that the No 10 had accepted conditions to remain. He called the Dutchman vital and hoped he can contribute even more.
Goalkeeper Hugo Souza also welcomed the potential renewal, stressing Memphis’ weight within the squad and his influence on and off the pitch. He reflected on their two years together at Parque São Jorge, which brought three trophies, and said he wanted the story to continue if the deal goes through.
