Corinthians members and councillors file impeachment request against Osmar Stabile | OneFootball

A group of Corinthians members and councillors has filed an impeachment request against president Osmar Stabile. The document went to the club’s Deliberative Council, and hours later its president, Leonardo Pantaleão, sent it to the Ethics Committee to assess grounds and issue an opinion.

According to Globo.com, the signatories allege breaches of the club’s statute and law, centred on the agreement with the Procuradoria-Geral da Fazenda Nacional to regularise an estimated R$ 1.2 billion debt.

They say the board pledged Parque São Jorge as collateral. The social headquarters complex is valued at R$ 602.2 million. Repayments are 120 monthly instalments for non-social security debts and 60 for social security, with settlement expected in about 10 years.

The filing says the debt had been classed as irrecoverable and covered non-social security liabilities of R$ 1 billion, social security of R$ 200 million and FGTS of R$ 15 million. The club obtained a 46.6% cut on interest, fines and charges, reducing the cash outlay to R$ 679 million.

The group argues the move bypassed statutory requirements and could amount to undue asset relief. It also questions transparency over Neo Química Arena maintenance, ticket and credential distribution and the hiring of an armed security company.

The request cites a recent interview in which Stabile mentioned ghost employees at the club. The group seeks investigations and sanctions for those who hired and kept them on the payroll, saying this harmed Corinthians’ assets.
