Corinthians’ potential prize money in 2026 Copa do Brasil

The 2026 edition of the Copa do Brasil will feature an unprecedented expansion in the competition's format. The tournament will include 126 teams, a higher number than in previous editions, and will have 155 matches spread throughout the calendar. Corinthians will enter the competition starting from the fifth phase of the tournament and can earn up to R$ 96 million.

In the previous edition, in which Corinthians won the title against Vasco, the club earned around R$ 97 million in prize money. For 2026, with the tournament's overhaul, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has set an approximate amount of R$ 500 million to be distributed among the participating clubs, from the first phase to the final.

The new model expands the tournament from seven to nine phases and increases the presence of clubs nominated by state federations, which will now occupy 102 spots. At the same time, teams from the Brazilian Championship Serie A will have fewer dates occupied in the calendar, with a reduction of up to three games compared to the previous format.

Another change is in the way the champion is determined. For the first time, the Copa do Brasil will be decided in a single match, replacing the traditional home-and-away system in the final.

The entity also projects further expansion for the coming seasons. Starting in 2027, the championship is expected to reach 128 clubs, driven by the inclusion of regional champions from the North, Midwest, and South-Southeast Cups. In the inaugural edition, held in 1989, the competition featured 32 teams.

Financial distribution by phase:

The amounts paid to clubs vary according to the phase of the competition and the group to which they belong. The categories are divided between Serie A (Group I), Serie B (Group II), and Series C, D, and clubs originating from state leagues (Group III).

First phase: R$ 400,000 for teams from Group III
Second phase: R$ 1.38 million (Group II) and R$ 830,000 (Group III)
Third phase: R$ 1.53 million (Group II) and R$ 950,000 (Group III)
Fourth phase: R$ 1.68 million (Group II) and R$ 1.07 million (Group III)
Fifth phase: R$ 2 million for each club
Round of 16: R$ 3 million
Quarter-finals: R$ 4 million
Semi-finals: R$ 9 million
Final: R$ 34 million for the runner-up and R$ 78 million for the champion
