Tamires hails Corinthians’ Copa das Campeãs run after return to Brazil

After returning to Brazil following the FIFA Women's Club World Cup, Tamires commented on Corinthians' performance in the international tournament. The Brabas finished as runners-up after being defeated by Arsenal 3-2 in extra time in the final held last Sunday (01) at Emirates Stadium in England.

Corinthians' goals were scored by Gabi Zanotti during regular time and by Vic Albuquerque with a penalty in extra time. In the extra period, the English team scored again and secured the title.

In an interview given to Fut das Minas after the delegation's arrival in Brazil, the defender highlighted the feelings left by the decision and praised the team's dedication throughout the competition.

“It was very emotional, it was unique. I think that, regardless... of course, football is about results and we really, really wanted to achieve this result. I leave with this title, but we leave with our heads held high. We gave it our all,” she stated.

Tamires also emphasized the presence of the fans and the support received during the final.

“We felt the energy of the fans who were there in person. We knew that the whole of Brazil was also following along, the Corinthians supporters suffering with us. We went to our limit, went to the end, sought the result, but unfortunately it didn't come,” she added.

The player further expressed pride in the team's journey, despite the short preparation period.

“We leave with a feeling of pride for everything we did. It was a short time of work, but we managed to give our best. Now it's about understanding what this World Cup was after the adrenaline passes,” she said.

Finally, Tamires projected the future of Corinthians and women's football, highlighting the historic nature of the team's participation in the tournament.

“It will definitely be marked in history. It was the first of many to come, of many things that women's football is building and will enjoy from now on. We will work to be present in the next edition and to pursue this title all the time. Corinthians is this. Corinthians is grit, unity, strength all the time. And we will work for more. It was very emotional,” she concluded.
