Memphis Depay is expected to land in São Paulo on Thursday morning, 30, to finalise a new Corinthians contract running to mid-2028, according to Meu Timao.
The Dutch forward is on holiday after World Cup duty with the Netherlands and will take routine medicals before signing. His current deal expires on 31.
He has accepted a pay cut with reworked performance bonuses, and Corinthians will cover his wages. Outstanding bonuses of a little over R$40 million are expected to be paid in instalments during the new term.
In the latest counterproposal from the 32-year-old’s camp, part of the package was linked to joint commercial activity with the club. He wanted three years, but the board offered two.
Released in late May for the World Cup, Memphis had not returned after the Netherlands went out on 29 June. Corinthians initially did not expect him back before a renewal, then looked to have him at CT Joaquim Grava after the recess.
The renewal is not blocked by the club’s transfer bans, as it would extend an existing registration rather than create a new one. This season he has 14 appearances, one goal and one assist after a right thigh lay-off from March to May. Corinthians host Athletico Paranaense on Thursday at 19:30 at Neo Química Arena in the 21st round of the Brasileirão.
