Corinthians will be without Hugo Souza and André Carrillo for their next Brasileirão fixture away to Fluminense on the first of April.

ge.globo reports the club explored chartering two planes to return the pair in time, then abandoned the plan due to high costs and the players’ physical load.

Hugo Souza is with Brazil for friendlies against France and Croatia on 27 and 31 March. The near nine-hour trip from Orlando to Rio de Janeiro was deemed harmful to his condition.

Carrillo is on Peru duty for meetings with Senegal and Honduras on 28 and 31 March in Spain. He is under managed training loads and has been regularly substituted before full time.

Dorival Júnior can call on goalkeepers Kauê, 22, and Felipe Longo, 21, in Souza’s absence. Midfield options to cover for Carrillo include Matheus Pereira, Allan, Charles and possibly Rodrigo Garro, with Breno Bidon dropping deeper if needed.

The absences mean at least five players are set to miss Fluminense. Memphis Depay and Hugo Farias are injured, while Raniele is suspended.

The match arrives amid a seven-game winless run for Corinthians. In the league they have 10 points and sit 11th.
