Corinthians to meet Yuri Alberto over possible return against Santos | OneFootball

Yuri Alberto is nearing a return for Corinthians, with his involvement against Santos to be decided after fresh assessments.

Globo.com reports that staff, medics and the striker are due to meet on Thursday at CT Joaquim Grava. The discussion will determine whether he can feature in Sunday's clássico at Vila Belmiro, 16:00 Brasília time, in the sixth round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.

The centre-forward is in the final stages of recovery from a grade two injury to his left biceps femoris. He began physical transition work at the training ground on three March.

He suffered the problem on 15 February against São Bernardo in the Campeonato Paulista classification phase, leaving the pitch in tears and helped off by team-mates.

With three goals in nine outings, he is Corinthians' top scorer this season. In his absence, Dorival Júnior has tried Gui Negão, Pedro Raul and Vitinho up front, with limited success.

Corinthians lost 2-0 to Coritiba at Neo Química Arena on Wednesday. They remain on seven points but have slipped to eighth in the Brasileirão, and could still be overtaken this round.
