Corinthians returned to training on Thursday morning, with goalkeeper Felipe Longo back from an elbow ligament issue. He is expected to start at Fluminense next week at the Maracanã, with Hugo Souza unavailable due to the FIFA window.
According to Globo.com, Dorival Júnior split the session into phases, opening with transition drills featuring three against two and four against two to rehearse counter-attacks.
The squad then worked on offensive construction aligned to the staff’s tactical concepts. Improving chance creation has been a recurring focus in recent weeks and Dorival is seeking solutions.
The morning ended with a small-sided game. No starters or reserves have been confirmed for next Wednesday’s match against Fluminense, with the line-up to be set early next week.
International call-ups ruled out Hugo Souza, Memphis Depay, André Carrillo and Gui Negão, the latter with Brazil Under-20. Forward Kaio César and full-back Hugo remain in the medical department.
Training resumes on Friday morning at CT Joaquim Grava. In the coming weeks, beyond Brasileirão fixtures, Corinthians open their Conmebol Libertadores campaign against Platense of Argentina and begin the Copa do Brasil against Barra of Santa Catarina.
