Corinthians lost 2-1 to Coritiba on Sunday in the 24th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro, leaving them without a point against Coritiba this season and matching an unwanted run last seen in 2003.

The clubs met twice in the league, Coritiba won 2-0 at Neo Química Arena then completed the double in Curitiba. According to Meu Timao, Corinthians were managed by Dorival Júnior in that first meeting.

The previous season in which Corinthians failed to collect a point against Coritiba was 2003. Coritiba won 1-0 at Morumbis with Corinthians hosting, then repeated the score at Couto Pereira in the return.

The latest defeat also ended Corinthians’ unbeaten run at Couto Pereira, which had stretched for almost 15 years.

The result hurt their standing. They had hoped to close the round in sixth, but instead slipped one place and finished the weekend 10th.

Corinthians next face Santos in the 25th round at Neo Química Arena on Sunday 30 at 16:00.

Overall, the sides have played 64 times, Corinthians have 33 wins, 13 draws and Coritiba 18, with goals 90-62.
