Swansea City winger Ronald is the apparent subject of interest from Coventry City this summer

Swansea City mean business this summer and are looking to back Portuguese head coach Vitor Matos all the way with numerous key additions, especially in wide attacking areas, as an exit of a current star could be on the cards after recent news.

Swansea have had an interesting summer thus far, with one notable big exit and four new first-team players having arrived.

Scottish defender Stephen Welsh joined on a free transfer from Celtic, whilst each of Moussa Yeo, Elijah Just, and Joseph Opoku join to reinforce Matos' wide attacking options.

Yeo has previously worked with the 38-year-old head coach at RB Salzburg, whilst Just, having shone with New Zealand at the World Cup, joins from Motherwell for around £5 million, and Ghanaian winger Joseph Opoku arrives from Zulte Waregem for around £6 million.

All of this has helped to be funded by the £10 million sale of Ethan Galbraith to Stoke City, though with wide attacking options now in abundance in South Wales, the exit of a current star could be sanctioned following latest interest from elsewhere.

With Swansea focusing their crosshairs on reinforcements on the wings, an exit or two of some of their current assets could be on the cards.

With each of Zeidane Inoussa, Ji-Sung Eom, and Ronald Pereira in their ranks, Matos will have a difficult time accommodating all of them, with only two, at a push three, capable of being on the pitch at any one time.

Now, his focus on additions in that area may have become clearer, as according to SportsWitness, Coventry City are interested in taking Ronald to the Premier League this summer.

Ronald, 25, joined Swansea in January 2024 from Brazilian side Anapolis after a successful loan spell in Portugal with Estrela Amadora, and has gone on to feature heavily under the likes of Luke Williams, Alan Sheehan, and most recently Matos.

The Brazilian made 46 Championship appearances across the 2024/25 campaign, and a further 45 in the most recent season, with his energy and tenacity from out wide making him very difficult for managers to drop.

Alongside Coventry, a return to Brazil with Corinthians has also been touted, as well as teams from Saudi Arabia throwing their hat into the mix.

Frank Lampard is seemingly looking to add some strength and depth to his own wide attacking options this summer as he aims to keep Coventry afloat in the Premier League.

With each of Tatsuhiro Sakamoto, Ephron Mason-Clark, Jahnoah Markelo, and the recent addition of Loum Tchaouna to pick from, the former Chelsea midfielder is seemingly targeting another body in this position, especially with Markelo unlikely to play a role in the top flight.

Whether Ronald, with 11 goals and 12 assists in 116 games across all competitions for Swansea, is capable of making a notable difference in the top flight remains to be seen, and whilst the Swans are well stocked in that area of the pitch, his absence, should he indeed make the move, would be notable.

With each of Yeo, Just, and Opoku arriving in South Wales, Ronald's position on the wing has never been under more threat.

As a result of these additions, the Brazilian could be on his way out of the club, with Coventry's interest coming as a surprise to many Swansea fans, no doubt.

Having been a regular in the side ever since his arrival from Brazil two-and-a-half years ago, his time in South Wales could be up, and with the Sky Blues circling, the 25-year-old could well be a top-flight player in the coming weeks.
