Daniel Farke has offered support to injured Leeds United loanee Mateo Joseph and says discussion over the striker’s future will wait until the FA Cup and Premier League campaigns are over.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Joseph’s season ended last month with an ACL injury that will sideline the 22-year-old for several months. He made 19 league starts and 10 substitute appearances for Mallorca, scoring two goals and supplying four assists, including the winner against Real Madrid in his final game before the injury.

Joseph opted against joining Leeds’ pre-season tours and asked to return to Spain, a stance Farke previously disagreed with. The head coach has prioritised the current squad and will only address loans, signings and recruitment once both competitions conclude and Leeds have achieved what they want to achieve.

Farke extended his best wishes, stressing the focus for Joseph is a proper rehabilitation. He noted Leeds, as the parent club, and Mallorca are involved and enjoy a good working relationship.

Joseph’s Mallorca team-mates dedicated their win over Rayo Vallecano to him, while former Leeds colleagues sent messages of support on social media. In his own post, Joseph reflected on the abrupt halt to his routine and said he must learn to compete differently, be patient, trust the process and accept there will be good and less good days.
