Danilo was very happy and settled at Juventus until he was allowed to leave the club last year, a decision that came as a surprise to the club’s fans.

However, when Thiago Motta came on board as the manager, he quickly realised that continuing with Danilo was not the right decision.

The defender struggled at the beginning of Motta’s tenure and, by the January transfer window, he had been cut from the Juve squad before later being sold to Flamengo.

Danilo Wanted To Stay At Juventus

Danilo continues to play professional football in Brazil, but he would have preferred to remain at Juventus. The defender had to accept his fate after being told that he would have to leave the club.

His departure brought an unexpected end to his time at the Allianz Stadium, particularly after he had established himself as an important player and captain.

“Honestly, I thought I’d build my career and finish it playing in Europe, and then finish it at Juventus, just as I’d planned.

“Suddenly, due to an internal issue, I found myself in a situation where I was no longer considered in the same way, I no longer had the same recognition and I no longer fit into the project.”

Danilo Reflects On His Juventus Exit

The defender’s comments show that he had expected his career to follow a very different path before the situation at Juventus changed.

Danilo had planned to finish his European career with the Bianconeri, but his position within the team changed after Motta took charge.

The defender ultimately had to move on despite wanting to continue playing for Juventus. His departure therefore represented a significant change from what he had originally expected for the final stage of his career in Europe.
