Juventus hopes in-form loan star will not return to the club | OneFootball

Jonathan David has been in superb form at Atletico Madrid while spending this season on loan at the Spanish club, and most parent clubs would be pleased to see a player return in such form and represent them again next term.

However, Juventus are reportedly taking a different approach, with the Bianconeri seemingly keen for David to leave permanently despite his improved performances. His form at Atletico has shown that he can produce more than he managed during his time in Turin.

David impresses during loan spell

The Canadian is proving that he is a better player than the version Juventus saw during his time at the club, and his performances have raised questions about whether a different approach could have helped him succeed in Turin.

Instead, Juventus appear focused on securing his departure. Rather than planning for his return and considering how to help him perform at a higher level, the club are reportedly hoping that his current form will encourage Atletico Madrid to make his move permanent.

David’s goalscoring form could therefore benefit Juventus even if he does not return to the Allianz Stadium. His performances in Spain are increasing his value and could ensure that other clubs are also interested in signing him if Atletico decide against exercising their option.

Juventus hope for a permanent move

Calciomercato reports that Atletico Madrid have a 25m euro option to add David to their squad permanently. Juventus hope he continues to perform well enough for the Spanish club to trigger that option.

If Atletico decide not to use the option, Juventus reportedly believe that David will still find another club willing to sign him when the season ends. His current performances should ensure that there is interest in his services.

For Juventus, the ideal outcome would therefore be for David to maintain his current level and continue scoring goals. His form at Atletico has already changed the perception of his performances compared with his time in Turin, and continued success could create a market for his talent at the end of the season.

The former Lille man’s future will depend on what Atletico decide, but his goalscoring form gives Juventus reason to believe they can find a permanent solution.
