CD Castellón begin pre-season at La Coma around nine, little over a month after losing to Almería in the play-off semi-final. Coach Pablo Hernández stays on after renewing, aiming to push for the top again.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, much of the summer rebuild is advanced, though several areas remain open.

Keeper Sergi Torner steps up to the first team and has renewed until 2028. With Romain Matthys established as starter, the picture could open the door for Amir Abedzadeh.

In defence, the club triggered the option for Agustín Sienra. Captain Salva Ruiz departs and Ismael Fadel leaves on loan, while Juanjo Nieto signs and José Albert returns from Ibiza.

In midfield, Beñat Gerenabarrena returns to Athletic after his loan and Ronaldo Pompeu is not renewed, leaving Diego Barri and Marc-Olivier Doué. Jari Vlak arrives from ADO Den Haag, plus Álvaro Martín from Andorra and Fran Castillo from Ibiza.

Replacing the output of Álex Calatrava, a record sale to Espanyol, and Brian Cipenga, who did not renew, is a major task. Iñigo Córdoba from Burgos and Hamza Bellari from Eldense-Valencia Mestalla add width.

Awer Mabil is expected to join later. Serpeta is loaned again, Mamadou Traoré departs and De Nipoti does not continue. There are no changes at centre-forward, with Ousmane Camara and Álvaro García.

Three Castellón B players join training, goalkeeper Iván Biarge, defender Iago Parente and midfielder Enric Gisbert. The week ends with a friendly at La Coma on Saturday at 19.00 against CE Sabadell.
