Sunderland are entering a potentially decisive week in their pursuit of Sassuolo defender Tarik Muharemović, with Leeds United intensifying their push and Bournemouth also in the frame.
Fabrizio Romano says Leeds have made a verbal contract proposal to the 23-year-old and are confident of completing a deal, with talks with Sassuolo expected to progress this week.
Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio claims Muharemović must now choose between those three Premier League clubs. Sassuolo want around €40 million, roughly £34 million, and Juventus are understood to be due 50 percent of any sale.
There is no suggestion Sunderland have an agreement with the player or Sassuolo, and the next few days could show whether they will compete financially with Leeds and Bournemouth.
Spanish reports claim Sunderland, Leeds, Brighton, Fulham and Aston Villa have enquired about Barcelona winger Roony Bardghji, while Juventus, Ajax, Marseille and Porto are also keen. Barcelona are said to be open to a loan or permanent deal, potentially with a buy-back clause.
Bardghji is valued at €15-25 million, approximately £12.8-21.3 million, which is guidance rather than an asking price. Any move would bring strong competition if Sunderland choose to advance.
Italian reporter Nicolò Schira links Sunderland with Angers left-back Jacques Ekomié, who is also of interest to Beşiktaş and Hamburg. The 22-year-old made 18 Ligue 1 appearances and two in the French Cup last season and is valued at about €9 million, roughly £7.7 million.
