With six months remaining on Dayot Upamecano’s current contract, Bayern Munich have been working tirelessly to extend the Frenchman’s deal beyond the summer.
Now, according to a report from Bild, Upamecano is close to signing a contract extension with Germany’s record champions. The player’s representatives and Bayern have reached an agreement on key figures with a final agreement expected shortly.
The 27-year-old will earn around €20m per year at Bayern, making Upamecano one of the club’s highest earners. According to Tobi Altschäffl, there will also be a reported €65m exit clause inserted into the player’s contract, which comes into effect in 2027.
This comes after interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, who were ready to meet Upamecano’s demands, but the French international is happy in Munich.
As Bayern sit comfortably top of the Bundesliga, Upamecano remains an integral member of Vincent Kompany’s squad, starting 11 of his 12 league games.
