Beñat de Jesús has agreed to join Cádiz, with the right-back committing to the Andalusian club after a deal long in the making. The club are fighting to avoid dropping out of Segunda División.
In December, the plan was to wait until June to sidestep a 300,000 euros clause, with the player set to be out of contract. As reported by as.com, Cádiz had been tracking the Barakaldo defender for a summer move.
To stay up, Imanol Idiakez's side must beat Leganés at the Nuevo Mirandilla on Sunday at 18:30, then hope Huesca and Mirandés slip up. Cádiz are 18th on 40 points.
He remains in the hunt for a Primera Federación play-off, facing Celta Fortuna at Lasesarre on Saturday.
Mirandés and Burgos were among the Segunda clubs watching him, with interest also from Poland and Portugal, but he has chosen Cádiz as a step up. A Lezama product, the 23-year-old played 12 times for Athletic’s B team before moving to the club on the Margen Izquierda. Since 23-24 he has made 21 then 27 appearances across the last two seasons, winning promotion to Primera Federación and becoming a mainstay under Imanol de la Sota.
