Cristian Pavon bent a free-kick into the bottom left in the 86th minute to clinch Grêmio's 2-1 win over São Paulo.

Early on, Pavon set the tone for Tricolor Gaúcho with aggressive deliveries and direct running that forced hurried defending from Tricolor Paulista. His wide starting positions repeatedly drew markers and created space for central runners.

After the restart he kept stretching Soberano, finding room on the right to supply further openings and sustain pressure until the decisive dead ball arrived. His movement out wide ensured Grêmio progressed up the pitch cleanly and often.

He finished with six successful dribbles, two key passes and eight possessions won, underlining how he carried the attacking threat while also helping Imortal reclaim the ball high. Three accurate crosses added variety to his threat, before that late set piece settled the contest.

Because Tricolor Gaúcho's structure kept him one against one on the flank, Pavon could isolate full-backs and attack the outside, which repeatedly unbalanced Tricolor Paulista and tilted the game towards the hosts' right side.

Tricolor Gaúcho rise from 17th to 14th and visit Atlético Mineiro next. Soberano travel to Bolívar in the CONMEBOL Sudamericana before hosting Coritiba.

How high would you rate Pavon's performance tonight?
