Grêmio fan and influencer Fernanda Zillmer Araújo, 28, has kept a promise by tattooing Pavon’s initial after his free-kick against São Paulo at the Arena.
She made the pledge moments before he struck the ball and fulfilled it last Tuesday, inking a P beside R for Renato Portaluppi and L for Luan under the number seven. According to Globo.com, it was a heat-of-the-moment call.
Pavon’s free-kick on 40 minutes of the second half sealed a 2-1 Brasileirão win. In the previous game he had also scored from a free-kick at the Arena in a 1-0 victory over Mirassol, the Copa do Brasil last 16 second leg.
Signed in 2024, he has often been booed, and calm between player and fans has been rare. Fernanda says he had struggled and even filled in at right-back, and while not a hero in her eyes, she feels he saved Grêmio in those two games.
She chose an initial rather than his face and calls it the craziest thing she has done for Grêmio. The R honours Renato, the club’s greatest player and coach, and the L nods to Luan, a key man in the 2017 Libertadores win.
Her devotion includes a nine-kilometre walk to the Arena in 2022 for the return to Série A, plus a 1903 tattoo on her back. She has no further pledges, plans to visit CT Luiz Carvalho to show Pavon the ink, and jokes that if he scores a free-kick in a Gre-Nal, the derby will be theirs.
