Derby lose Rhian Brewster for West Brom clash as Alex Mowatt outlines style shift | OneFootball

Derby County will be without forward Rhian Brewster for Wednesday night’s clash with West Brom after he sustained concussion.

Boss John Eustace confirmed the 26-year-old will miss the next two matches under concussion protocols, having suffered a head injury early in Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at West Ham.

Brewster has endured injury-disrupted seasons since leaving Liverpool for Sheffield United in late 2020. He joined Derby as a free agent in 2025 and scored seven goals in 31 appearances last term, and had only recently managed back-to-back outings.

Defender Craig Forsyth remains out with a long-term knee injury from the previous weekend’s win over Portsmouth, which is Derby’s sole victory of the new season.

West Brom’s record away to Derby is bleak, with just one win there in 126 years, decided by a Rob Hulse strike in August 2003.

Former Albion midfielder Alex Mowatt, who had been set to be club captain, will face James Morrison’s side after moving from The Hawthorns to Pride Park on the eve of the new league season for around £600,000 to £700,000. He has enjoyed his start, described the style as a little different to recent years, and hopes to keep improving.
