The chief disagreement between the parties amid the ongoing contract negotiations between La Liga giants Real Madrid and star winger Vinícius Jr. has this week been revealed.

This comes amid confirmation that the Bernabéu brass have point-blank refused to entertain one condition laid out by the Brazilian and his entourage.

Negotiations between Real and Vinícius over the latter’s contract have now entered a crucial stage. As things stand, the 26-year-old has just 12 months remaining on his current terms in Spain’s capital. This means that, should the situation not change over the months ahead, Vinícius would be free to depart for nothing in the summer of 2027.

With as much in mind, Premier League champions Arsenal have over recent weeks positioned themselves firmly in the running for the signature of the explosive attacker.

Those in a position of power at Real Madrid, in turn, have scheduled a crunch round of discussions with Viní’s representatives this week. And as alluded to above, on Tuesday, the one stumbling block which will need to be overcome during these talks has been revealed.

The info comes courtesy of The Athletic, who report that:

‘Vinicius Jr has asked for a package comprising, in what would be an unprecedented move at Madrid, a renewal bonus. This is the main point of contention between the parties. Madrid have shown no willingness to accept this condition.’

The reason for the unwavering stance of Florentino Pérez and co. regarding the bonus? A potential ‘knock-on effect’ through the club’s first-team squad.
