Liverpool have received a pair of offers for Luis Diaz this summer. Anfield Watch has the details.
Luis Diaz is in demand right now, with Barcelona and Bayern Munich both eager to sign the Colombian. Diaz, in turn, appears willing to leave Liverpool.
Several reports claim Diaz is going to tell the club that he wants out. Maybe that happens very soon, maybe it happens down the line.
But what’s certainly clear is that there’s interest. Barcelona and Bayern are both after wingers having lost out on targets this summer.
Nico Williams was a priority for both clubs but he ultimately decided to remain with Athletic Bilbao. That’s left them chasing other targets and it seems they’ve each decided that Diaz is the next-best option.
That’s good news for Liverpool, of course - though they certainly haven’t received a good offer yet.
Anfield Watch understands that Liverpool received verbal offers from Barcelona and Bayern this summer. Both were rejected immediately, as has been reported elsewhere.
And not simply rejected, either - the Reds told them he wasn't for sale. We imagine that's because of the actual offers themselves leaving little room for negotiation.
Anfield Watch understands Barcelona offered Liverpool around €32m with add-ons that would take it to €40m. Bayern didn't offer much more - a total package worth €45m.
We're not entirely sure why the offers were so low. Perhaps the common knowledge that Diaz wants to leave, coupled with Williams being their real target, led to the low-ball proposals.
Liverpool want much more than that. They're chasing €80m+, which is why the likes of Sport claim Barcelona aren't willing to get close to the asking price.
A long way to go before Diaz is off, then.
