Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has ripped into his troops following their disappointing 2-2 Premier League draw against Leeds United on Tuesday night.

The Blues went into the game against Leeds looking for a fifth consecutive Premier League victory under the new manager and were on track for over an hour.

A sublime effort from Joao Pedro and a well-taken penalty from Cole Palmer on either side of half time set Chelsea on course for an eighth victory under Rosenior’s leadership.

However, the Blues capitulated in six minutes to allow the newly promoted side back in the game.

Moises Caicedo, who is usually the hallmark of excellence and consistency in the Chelsea team, gave away a needless penalty, which was converted by Lukas Nmecha in the 67th minute.

Then a comical, schoolboy error from the Chelsea defence allowed Noah Okafor to slot into an empty net to bring the Yorkshire side level.

Palmer had a glorious chance to snatch all three points for Chelsea right at the death, but somehow missed an open goal from a couple of yards out.

The 2-2 draw ended Chelsea’s four-match winning streak, and Rosenior didn’t hold back when assessing the game at Stamford Bridge.

“I don’t want to talk about the football that we played,” he said (via BBC).

“If we want to improve and get to where we want to be, we have to make sure we’re switched on for 90 minutes. It’s as simple as that.

“Devastated because some of the football we played was excellent.

“We should come away with three points, and we haven’t because of two moments in the game we haven’t taken care of. We gifted Leeds a point.”

A win would have taken Chelsea into the top four, with Manchester United dropping points at West Ham United but they remain fifth in the Premier League table.

The Blues will now prepare for an FA Cup fourth-round clash against Hull City before hosting relegation-bound Burnley in West London.
