Ángel Di María has sustained a muscular problem and may miss Rosario Central’s next fixtures. According to SuperDepor.com, the forward is not expected to be named for matchday 13 of the Torneo Apertura against Atlético Tucumán and could also miss their Copa Libertadores 2026 debut.
There is no official medical update from the Rosario club, and the exact diagnosis has not been disclosed. It is a muscular strain that had already left him among the substitutes against Independiente Rivadavia of Mendoza, where he did not come on after the break.
This is not his first setback since returning to the club, having injured the left adductor late in February, on the eve of the Clásico Rosarino against Newell’s.
His problem was confirmed after the derby, so he was left out of the subsequent draw with Argentinos Juniors, then named on the bench against Banfield, where he was crucial in a 2-1 home fightback.
Di María later said he had asked to play despite the issue, with every shot or cross causing pain. The World Cup winner focused on short movements and threaded passes, and he opened the scoring with a volley before requesting a change soon after.
It is his second muscle issue in just under a month, arriving at a pivotal point for Central. They are two weeks from their Copa Libertadores opener, scheduled for Thursday 9 April against Independiente del Valle of Ecuador.
