Diego Coppola delivered another assured display as Paris FC drew 0-0 at Strasbourg, his partnership with Moustapha Mbow reinforcing a tightening back line. According to L'Équipe, it was a second clean sheet in three matches under Antoine Kombouaré.
At Lyon eight days earlier, a 90+6 penalty denied them a clean sheet in a 1-1 draw. Under Stéphane Gilli in early 2026 they had already tightened up with a back five, aside from a 5-0 home loss to Lens.
Kombouaré has switched to a back four built on a new Coppola-Mbow axis. Adama Camara has impressed at right back out of position, with Thibault de Smet or Nhoa Sangui on the left.
Coppola, 22, joined on loan from Brighton until the end of the season this winter and now looks at ease after an uneven start. He dominated in the air at the Meinau, cutting out danger on 17, 33 and 62 minutes. Up against Joaquin Panichelli, Ligue 1's second top scorer on 14 goals, he used his 1.93m frame to telling effect.
Coppola says he and Mbow communicate well and he is being monitored by his national team staff. Captain Pierre Lees-Melou views the pair as solid and efficient. Kombouaré credits the collective, noting Kevin Trapp is facing less danger, and says he would have taken five points from nine across the 1-0 win over Nice and the trips to Lyon and Strasbourg. Another strong showing against Le Havre next weekend, ideally with a win, would validate the sequence.
