Fernando Diniz was booed by parts of the Vasco crowd after a goalless draw with Madureira in the Campeonato Carioca at São Januário on Monday.

According to Globo.com, some supporters also called the coach a donkey as frustrations grew at full time.

The stalemate cost Vasco an early route to the quarter-finals and they still risk being dragged into the relegation quadrangular.

If they do not beat Botafogo on Sunday, the club will depend on the result of Sampaio Corrêa against Flamengo.

Vasco have played six matches in 2026, with two wins, two draws and two defeats.

Their next game is against Chapecoense on Thursday in the Brasileirão, at 20:00 Brasília time, at São Januário.
