Manchester United and Besiktas have reached an agreement for the transfer of Altay Bayindir as soon as the summer window opens.
That’s according to Turkish outlet Fanatik, which confirms the deal will see United earn just under £5 million.

They paid £4.3m for the shot-stopper when he signed from Fenerbahce in 2023 on a four-year deal, so it doesn’t seem as though they’ll be making any loss on the transaction.
He would’ve also been out of contract at Old Trafford at the end of the 2026/2027 season, meaning this year was the best time to cash in.

Bayindir will leave the Reds having never played a consistent starting role between the sticks, albeit he would’ve known that would be the case when he arrived in the same window as Andre Onana, who was brought in for a whopping £47.2m.
That being said, the Turkey international had been promoted to first-choice goalkeeper over Onana at the very start of the season.
He started the first six Premier League fixtures of the term, during which United lost three times, failed to keep a clean sheet and conceded 11 goals.
Then, after giving him time to settle, deadline-day coup Senne Lammens displaced Bayindir in net and has impressed while retaining his place ever since; United have lost only twice in the 21 games Lammens has played.

Darren Fletcher also opted against utilising Bayindir for the side’s FA Cup opener in January, so now, barring any injury to Lammens, the 27-year-old will know he’s in for a quiet end to 2025/2026 watching on from the bench.
Alas, it will mean United can reinvest the funds generated from his departure to acquire a new backup ‘keeper.
