Corinthians drew 0-0 at Chapecoense in the seventh round of the Campeonato Brasileiro at Arena Condá. According to Meu Timao, Dorival hailed the return of Yuri Alberto and underlined the striker's importance.
Alberto played for the first time in over a month after a grade 2 injury to his left biceps femoris. He suffered it on 15 February in the 1-0 win over São Bernardo at Estádio 1º de Maio, in the Campeonato Paulista's opening phase.
In his absence Corinthians played six matches, recording one win, three draws and two defeats. Dorival sought alternatives alongside Memphis, testing Gui Negão, Vitinho, Pedro Raul and Kayke, and a three-man midfield of André Luiz, Breno Bidon and Rodrigo Garro. None convinced.
Dorival said Alberto gives the team a broad range of options and that his presence changes the dynamic. He added that having the number nine back is a major extra outlet in attack.
Despite the lay-off, Alberto remains Corinthians' top scorer this season with three goals in 10 games. He also led the club in 2024 and 2025 with 31 and 19 respectively.
He could add to his tally on Sunday at 20:30, when Corinthians host Flamengo at Neo Química Arena in the eighth round.
