Real Madrid are planning some major changes to the squad in the summer, with signings in midfield and defence being targeted.
One of the targets for Los Blancos, as far as the midfield position is concerned, happens to AZ Alkmaar wonderkid Kees Smit.
The 20-year-old Dutch prodigy has been on the club’s radar since last summer and they continue to closely monitor him with the idea of making a move later this year.
Now, according to reports relayed by Defensa Central, Smit would be delighted to sign for Real Madrid and would even consider it “a dream” if the move were completed this coming summer.
This comes after the youngster had gone on record about his admiration for Los Blancos’ bitter rivals FC Barcelona, stating how he follows the Blaugrana closely.

While Barça themselves have shown an interest in the Dutchman, a move for him in the summer appears unlikely, considering they have plenty of options in midfield and their financial situation.
This could clear the way for Real Madrid to swoop in for Smit, who as per the report, would be delighted to make the jump as well.
Real Madrid are understood to be aware of the 20-year-old starlet’s stance. However, any and all final decisions regarding the transfer targets for the summer will only be made after March.
Smit has a contract with AZ until the summer of 2028 and is expected to cost at least €50 million. Whether the Spanish capital giants are prepared to shell out that sum remains to be seen.
