Egypt take on the Ivory Coast for a place in the Africa Cup of Nations semi-final this evening as two of the continent’s giants go head to head in Agadir. Mohamed Salah and co. reached the last eight with a 3-1 victory over Benin to follow up their topping of Group B, where they secured two wins and a draw. As for the Ivory Coast, a 1-1 draw with Cameroon is the only blotch on their otherwise perfect record at the tournament so far.

Hossam Hassan’s Pharaohs needed extra time to squeeze past Benin in the first knockout round, with Salah’s injury-time penalty in the second half of the additional 30 minutes confirming their progression into the quarter-finals. A 3-0 win over Burkina Faso was enough for the Elephants, with Manchester United’s Amad Diallo notching their opener in Marrakech. Yan Diomande and Bazoumana Toure’s goals safely guided Emerse Fae’s side into the last eight.
