Eintracht Frankfurt ‘considering’ Roger Schmidt after Topmoller exit | OneFootball

Eintracht Frankfurt have dismissed Dino Topmoller, and Roger Schmidt, out of work since leaving Benfica at the start of 2024/2025, is being linked with the vacancy.

According to Bild, the former Benfica coach is among potential candidates, valued for his experience in German football.

The decision was confirmed on Sunday morning after two and a half years in charge. He took them to third last season, but they are seventh in the Bundesliga this term.

Topmoller’s final match was a 3-3 draw in Bremen on Friday, when they missed the chance to go sixth and move into European places. They have been knocked out of the cup by Dortmund, are 30th in the UEFA Champions League league phase and have one win in their last nine games, with one of the worst defences in Germany.

The report also lists Xabi Alonso and Marc Rose, both unattached. Alonso, dismissed by Real Madrid last week, is viewed as the preference of sporting director Markus Krösche, while Rose has been out since March 2025 after leaving Leipzig.

Edin Terzic is another strong option mentioned. He has been without a club since departing Borussia Dortmund at the end of 2023/24, shortly after taking them to the Champions League final, which they lost 0-2 to Real Madrid.
