Eintracht Frankfurt negotiating Turkish loan for Niels Nkounkou | OneFootball

Christopher Michel reports that Eintracht Frankfurt are on the verge of loaning out Niels Nkounkou again. The French youth international and Olympic representative recently returned from a season-long loan stint with Torino. According to the German journalist, Frankfurt seek a €4m transfer fee for the player they once paid €7.5m to acquire, but are open to another loan. Negotiations with Turkish outfit Konyaspor Kulübü are currently underway.

Michel claims that Nkounkou himself has been given a say in the decision. Nathaniel Brown’s departure (Bayern Munich) leaves Eintracht with an opening at the left fullback position. Nkounkou did start and played the opening 45 minutes in Eintracht’s first pre-season friendly of the summer this past weekend. He was replaced by another candidate to succeed Brown, Elias Baum, at halftime of the 1-7 away win at Gießen.

Will Niels Nkounkou receive another chance at Eintracht Frankfurt?

This appears doubtful as, particularly in light of the fact that the 25-year-old appeared to enter previous head coach Dino Toppmöller’s good graces last summer, yet was still loaned out. Nkounkou didn’t get his name on the scoresheet and – thanks to the €50m pocketed by Frankfurt from Brown’s Bayern transfer – have more than enough money to fill the position externally. 

Rebuilding last seasons woeful defensive corps remains a top priority for the RheinMainAdler. The fact that, as Michel reports, Nkounkou has some veto power over the move may nevertheless sink the transfer. Nkounkou may wish to hold out for a different club over the next 43 days that the summer 2026 transfer window remains open.
