Electrostimulation proved pivotal in Tamires’ return to the Brazil squad. At 38, the left-back added supplementary WB-EMS sessions to her Corinthians work after ankle surgery, rebuilding strength, stability and confidence.

According to Meu Timao, she had not been called up since the Paris Olympics in August 2024, then underwent surgery on an external ligament of the right ankle syndesmosis and spent seven months out. Her comeback combined club physiotherapy and readaptation with an individual plan to regain top-level performance.

Away from the training ground, she completed two weekly WB-EMS sessions at home, always supervised and aligned with the club staff. The work was led by Teka, a PUC-certified whole-body electrostimulation specialist with AT Gestão Esportiva.

The method uses a vest with electrodes that deliver impulses while exercises are performed, triggering simultaneous contractions in deep and superficial muscles. In about 20 minutes it activates core, glutes, legs, back, arms and calves, building strength and tone, speeding metabolism and sparing the joints.

The extra programme respected her match and training load. Blocks alternated between strength emphasis and lighter recovery work to boost circulation and ease pain, helping her regain consistency, joint stability and physical output, which secured a fresh call-up.

Head coach Arthur Elias highlighted her experience, praised her early-year form and said he does not currently see better options at left-back. He added that when more options emerge, selection will reflect who is in the best shape, and that her recall is merited and pleasing.

Brazil face Costa Rica on 27 February at Alejandro Morera Soto in Alajuela at 22:00 Brasília time. They then meet Venezuela on 4 March at 18:00 in Toluca, before playing Mexico on 7 March at Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes in Mexico City at 20:00.
