Eleven Celts set for international duty | OneFootball

With the opening part of the domestic season now over, international football will take centre-stage over the next few weeks with a host of countries taking part in the UEFA Nations League, AFCON qualifiers or international friendlies.

Eleven Celtic players will be heading off on international duty over the coming weeks, and you can read all about our international Celts below.

Colby Donovan - Scotland

After his impressive recent form, 20-year-old right-back Colby Donovan has been rewarded with his first senior international call-up and will be involved in new Scotland boss Sebastien Pocognoli’s first camp. It is a call-up that the young Scot, who has featured at various age levels for Scotland, richly deserves.

After a disappointing 2026 World Cup campaign, Scotland return to competitive action with UEFA Nations League fixtures against Slovenia, Switzerland and North Macedonia.

Liam Scales - Ireland

The Republic of Ireland managed to produce two huge results in their World Cup qualifying group, defeating Portugal and Hungary to make it to the play-off semi-finals where they suffered the heartbreak of a penalty shoot-out defeat at the hands of Czechia.

Liam Scales and his Ireland team-mates will look to get back to winning ways in their Nations League matches against Kosovo, Austria and Israel.

Viljami Sinisalo - Finland

With seven Finland caps to his name so far, goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo will be hoping to add to that number in the coming weeks as he jets off to join up with the Finland national side for their Nations League games.

On the horizon for the Finns are matches against San Marino, Belarus and Austria.

Benjamin Nygren - Sweden

Celtic’s top scorer last season, Benjamin Nygren, described the experience of representing his country at this summer’s World Cup as a dream come true despite Sweden’s relatively disappointing results in three of their four matches at the tournament.

The Swede returns to international action with Nations League matches against Romania, Poland and Bosnia & Herzegovina over the coming weeks.

Kasper Høgh - Denmark

Undoubtedly, Kasper Høgh would have loved to have added to his Celtic goal tally before heading off to be with his Denmark team-mates during this international window.

With one goal for Denmark to his name so far, he will also been keen to add to that number in his country’s huge Nations League clashes against Norway, Wales and Portugal.

Mika Baur - Germany

Former Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp was announced as Germany’s new manager during the summer and this international break will see him take charge of the side for the first time.

Klopp has named a massive 44-man squad for Germany’s upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures, with Celtic’s Mika Baur due to be involved in the squad for the first time for the home match against Serbia and the away match against Greece.

Sebastian Tounekti - Tunisia

The 2026 FIFA World Cup proved to be a tumultuous time for Tunisia, with the Eagles of Carthage parting company with their manager after just one match at the tournament.

Sebastian Tounekti, who has 15 Tunisia caps so far, will be hoping for a less chaotic few weeks as he and his Tunisia teammates prepare to face Uganda and Botswana in the AFCON qualifiers and Mali in an international friendly.

Haissem Hassan - Egypt

At 2-0 up with 20 minutes to go against Argentina in their last-16 match at the World Cup, Haissem Hassan and his Egypt teammates would have had their minds on the quarter-final before Messi and co. produced a stunning comeback to progress to the next round.

Hassan and Egypt have more competitive action to look forward to over the coming weeks, with AFCON qualifiers against Angola and South Sudan before a friendly match against South Africa.

Auston Trusty - USA

After featuring for the USA in their World Cup matches against Australia and Turkey, defender Auston Trusty watched on from the bench as his nation progressed beyond Bosnia in the last 32 before ultimately exiting the competition in the last-16 against Belgium.

He will be hoping to add to his 10 international caps so far in the USA’s upcoming friendlies against Peru, Chile, Mexico and Canada.

Camilo Durán - Colombia

Already a fan favourite at Celtic Park, Camilo Durán’s positive start in the Hoops has been rewarded with a first senior call-up to the Colombia national side, something which the forward said has been a lifelong ambition.

Durán will be keen to earn his first caps as his nation take on Mexico, Paraguay and Peru in friendly matches which are all scheduled to be played in the USA.

Shumaira Mheuka - England U20

Whilst he is still to grab his first Celtic goal, Chelsea loanee Shim Mheuka has caught the eye of Celtic supporters with his impressive cameo appearances since joining the club in the summer.

The talented youngster will head off to join up with England’s under-20s side during this international break for their UEFA Elite League matches against Italy, France and Germany.
