Sunderland supporters were handed a striking teaser for next season’s hummel releases during the Europa League celebrations.
After the 2-1 win over Chelsea that sealed Europa League football in 2026/27, the main scoreboard paired the club crest with Elvis Presley’s trademark. The image used pink on a black background, hinting at collaboration with the Presley estate.
An email titled "Elvis - Episode One" followed, in the same colours and promising a summer launch, with wording that nodded to the club anthem from Presley’s Can’t Help Falling in Love.
Wise Men Say has accompanied Sunderland’s resurgence and now looks set to be celebrated through upcoming ranges.
The palette could reflect Presley’s early pink-and-black suit, depicted by Austin Butler in Baz Luhrmann’s 2022 biopic.
Sunderland and hummel have extended their deal on improved commercial terms for the Black Cats.
"We thank the club for backing us because they would have had other offers but they’ve stuck their neck out and gone for Hummel," Burke said. He was speaking to the i paper.
"We felt the partnership could be big but it’s turned out even bigger than either side thought so our financials of what we’re offering have increased."
hummel are expected to release two retro ranges based on 1988-1994 next season, with three main kits due in June, July and August, and to have a strong presence on the club’s pre-season tour of the USA.
