It sparked celebrations at the Stadium of Light as Sunderland earned only a second crack at European football. They now prepare for a first continental campaign since Bob Stokoe’s 1973/74 Cup Winners Cup ties against Vasas Budapest and Sporting CP.

On squad values, Sunderland sit just behind Olympique Marseille on €386.00m and ahead of Real Sociedad on €272.70m. Juventus lead this group at €544.20m, with AC Milan on €483.50m and Bournemouth on €507.10m.
