Elye Wahi will miss Côte d'Ivoire's World Cup match against Germany in Toronto on Saturday at 22:00 because entry paperwork for Canada has not been finalised.
The federation announced the decision on Thursday, saying the necessary authorisations for his entry into Canada had not been obtained, that he will remain in the United States, that it supports Wahi in this difficult period, that he remains an important member of the national team, and that it has not been notified of any judicial or administrative procedure concerning him.
Wahi is also at the centre of a suspicious betting affair and has been questioned by French police over alleged sporting corruption.
The investigation opened in late May concerns the yellow card he received in Nice's 0-0 draw with Metz on 17 May, for a late tackle near the opposition corner flag.
The booking could have been deliberate and linked to suspicious betting.
