Leeds United striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been left out of England's 2026 World Cup squad.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Thomas Tuchel confirmed his 26-man selection on Friday morning, with Harry Kane, Ollie Watkins and Ivan Toney named as the three strikers.
Calvert-Lewin scored his 14th Premier League goal in last weekend's 1-0 win over Brighton, leaving him joint-top English scorer. He is level with Watkins and Nottingham Forest's Morgan Gibbs-White, who was also omitted.
Toney had not featured in a Tuchel England squad for almost 12 months, last appearing in a June friendly against Senegal. He has 32 goals in 32 Saudi Pro League matches this season.
Calvert-Lewin ended a five-year international wait in March, playing just over half an hour off the bench against Uruguay before a planned return to Thorp Arch ahead of Japan.
“It was a great feeling [being back in the March camp]… The manager makes the decisions and picks the team, so I'm well aware that all I can do is keep doing what I’m doing, scoring goals and whatever happens, happens.” He told the Official Leeds United podcast.
While Calvert-Lewin misses out, former Elland Road loanee Djed Spence is included after an upturn at Tottenham. The full-back made seven appearances on loan at Leeds before returning to North London in January.
