Eric Roy was disillusioned by Brest’s limp display in Sunday’s 4-0 loss to Paris FC, and said he is waiting for guidance from the hierarchy before assessing his own future. According to L'Équipe, he wants clarity on the sporting plan.
From the opening minutes he sensed little would come, with his side short of desire and commitment. They were second best in duels and wasteful in possession, drifting through the first half. The slump at the back deepened, with 17 conceded across the last six Ligue 1 matches.
Roy called the first period catastrophic and, with clear sarcasm, noted that an aim to regain defensive solidity had supposedly been met.
He also suggested some players may have switched off once safety was secured, saying a few might have ended their season five matches ago. He lamented that with nothing at stake, enjoyment should be natural, yet he is not seeing it.
Only captain Brendan Chardonnet faced the media, stressing that standards matter both individually and collectively. He argued that players still have things to prove and must give their best because everyone is watching.
Looking ahead, Brest visit PSG, then host Strasbourg and Angers. Roy is more concerned about the longer term, warning that if the plan is again to sell the best players and keep patching up, it could become complicated. With sporting director Gregory Lorenzi reportedly bound for Nice or Marseille, uncertainty grows. Roy added that he has options but nothing is decided, and the president could yet choose to change course, with a few more defeats possibly hastening that call.
