According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, Esteban Andrada will not play for Real Zaragoza again after punching Huesca captain Jorge Pulido at El Alcoraz.
The punch sparked a mass confrontation at full time, and footage has circulated widely.
He faces a very serious misconduct charge that carries a ban of between four and 12 matches. His apology on the club’s channels and his lack of prior offences could reduce the length.
The club said after the match it would take disciplinary action against him, which could include suspension without pay, a step still under consideration.
Andrada said he was deeply sorry, called it a poor image for the club, supporters and a professional like him, and noted only one previous sending-off for handling outside the box. He described a flashpoint after a second booking, said he pushed the defender before a straight red followed, and vowed not to repeat it.
He is on loan at Zaragoza until the end of the season from Monterrey, with an obligatory 1.5 million dollar option if they are promoted. He did not train on Monday, and nor did the other starters from El Alcoraz, with B-team player Tobajas the only new face in the session.
