Leeds United’s Ethan Ampadu says Wales teammate Daniel James has been flying in training after a stop-start season blighted by injuries.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, James suffered a hamstring tendon injury at Manchester City in November, avoided surgery and spent over two months in rehab before returning against Nottingham Forest in February. An earlier ankle problem sidelined him for a month.
He has started four Premier League matches and appeared as a substitute in 11, with his first start since November coming in a 3-0 FA Cup win over Norwich City earlier this month. He is currently on Wales duty in Cardiff.
Ampadu said he knows the challenge of injuries from last season and praised the togetherness within Wales and Leeds. He called it frustrating to see James sidelined, but added the winger has trained at full tilt since returning and wants minutes to show his threat.
Leeds have not scored a Premier League goal in four games, their last from open play coming against Chelsea more than six weeks ago. Farke turned to James against Brentford last weekend, when he provided a direct outlet on the right but his final ball failed to connect, despite one successful take-on.
After the break, James could earn another start as Leeds visit West Ham in the FA Cup quarter-final, before a trip to his former club Manchester United begins a seven-game league run-in.
