Daniel James is flying in training after a long injury absence, according to Leeds United teammate Ethan Ampadu, as reported by yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk.

James suffered a hamstring tendon injury at Manchester City in November and missed more than two months. He avoided surgery and completed a lengthy rehab, then returned against Nottingham Forest in early February.

An ankle problem earlier in the season cost him a month. He has started only four Premier League matches, with 11 further outings as a substitute. His first start since November came in a 3-0 FA Cup win over Norwich City this month, before heading to the Wales camp in Cardiff.

Ampadu said the injuries have been very frustrating for James but added the winger has impressed in training since his return. He believes James just wants minutes to show the level everyone at Leeds and with Wales knows he can reach.

Leeds have not scored a Premier League goal in four games, their last from open play coming against Chelsea more than six weeks ago.

Daniel Farke introduced James against Brentford last weekend and he offered a direct outlet on the right. Several crosses failed to find a teammate, although he did beat a defender.

After the international break, James could be handed another start when Leeds visit West Ham in the FA Cup quarter-final. A trip to his former club Manchester United follows to start a seven-game Premier League survival run-in.
